During this reporting period, MPS issued:
- Five tickets for Driving an Unregistered Vehicle which carries a fine of $298
- One ticket for Display a Number Plate that does not match the Registration which carries a fine of $113
- One ticket for Driving without a Valid Driver’s Licence which carries a fine of $298
- One City of Morden By-Law ticket for Parking in a No Parking Zone which carries a fine of $150
June 5th, 2023
Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred on June 3, 2023 at 11:30 pm while parked in a parking lot at the corner of Thornhill Street and 19th Street. The driver parked his 2014 grey Mitsubishi Lancer and returned to find damage to the driver’s side door. Police are continuing their investigation.
Police received a report of a theft of a flag from a residence. Police are continuing their investigation.
At 3:50 pm, police were dispatched to a domestic dispute. Police attended and spoke to both parties who advised they were having a verbal argument but no assaults occurred. Police mediated the situation and no charges were laid as a result of this incident.
June 6th, 2023
At 4:25 pm, police received a report of a fraud. The caller advised that she received a call from what looked like her husband’s cell phone. The person on the other end of the call told her that her husband was in jail and that she needed to send money through bitcoin to get him out. The caller sent money and then realized this was probably a scam. She was unable to retrieve her money.
June 7th, 2023
At 4:00 pm, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Thornhill Street and 5th Street. Police attended and observed that a 2021 Honda Civic was rear ended by a 2007 Ford F150 while travelling west bound on Thornhill Street. Morden Fire and Rescue and EMS were also on scene. The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to Boundary Trails Health Center for minor injuries and one vehicle was towed from the scene.

While on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a burnt out headlight. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72 hour driving suspension and a 3 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
June 10th, 2023
At 12:35 am, police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. Police conducted a traffic stop and observed a can of alcoholic beverage in the backseat of the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 15 day driving suspension and a 3 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $500 administrative penalty.
At 1:10 am, police were dispatched to a disturbance at a local business. Police attended and spoke to both parties who advised they were having a verbal argument but no assaults occurred. Police mediated the situation and no charges were laid as a result of this incident.

Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72 hour driving suspension and a 3 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty.
While on general patrol police observed a vehicle with a male who was known to be on conditions to not attend Morden and not be in contact with the passenger of the vehicle. A short while later the vehicle was pulled over and the male was no longer in the vehicle. The female was also on conditions to not carry two cellular phones and police located two cell phones in the vehicle with her. The 46 year old Morden resident was arrested and charged with two counts of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. She was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on Monday.
At 9:15 pm, police received a report of a possible impaired driver who was doing donuts in the parking lot of a local business. Police received another call regarding the same vehicle speeding on Wilcocks Road. Subsequent checks on the vehicle revealed that it had been reported stolen. A short while later police observed this vehicle and activated their emergency lights at which point the suspect vehicle failed to stop. The suspect vehicle travelled in a reckless manner, speeding and failing to stop at stop signs, so police discontinued the pursuit due to public safety. A short time later the vehicle was observed stopped on the side of the road and the male who was driving was outside the vehicle. The suspect ran from police but was pursued on foot and arrested. The 23 year old male was charged with Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Resist Arrest and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was remanded into custody to attend to Winnipeg Provincial Court on Monday.
