Police received a report of a scam where the caller reports that she applied for a job online and received a cheque in advance from the employer. The employer asked her to cash the cheque and return some of the money. The caller returned the money and later found out that the cheque was fraudulent and did not clear the bank. Police are continuing their investigation.

At 9:55 pm, police were dispatched to a residence on South Railway regarding a bonfire. Police attended and spoke to the homeowner about the current fire ban. The homeowner extinguished the fire.
At 11:35 pm, police were dispatched to a residence on Stephen Street regarding a disturbance. Police attended and spoke to a highly intoxicated female. The 50-year-old female had nowhere to stay and was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. She was lodged in cells until sober and released without charges.
