At 11:37 am, police were dispatched to a residence in regards to an intoxicated male that was fighting and arguing with his girlfriend. Police attended and spoke with all parties and did not believe anyone to be in danger. Police assisted in returning the male to his residence.
At 1:06 pm, police were dispatched to 5th Street and Wardrop Street for an intoxicated male that was laying on the grass. A 36-year-old male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.
Morden Police were dispatched to Mountain Street and Wardrop Street regarding an intoxicated female laying on the sidewalk. Police attended and discovered that the woman was on conditions to abstain from alcohol and was also on a curfew. The 42-year-old female from Morden was arrested on two counts of Breaching her Release Order. She was released to a sober adult with an Appearance Notice to appear at Morden Provincial Court in July.
At 6:37 pm, police were dispatched to Stephen Street and 8th Street in regards to a lost child. A 3-year-old child and small dog were seen walking on the sidewalk and then crossing Stephen Street in traffic without adult supervision. A concerned caller stayed with the child until police could attend. While police were looking for the child’s residence, they were flagged down by the mother who stated that the child left the residence while they were watching the news. The child was returned to the mother.
Police received a call from a concerned mother stating that her son’s girlfriend was making suicidal comments. Police located the female who admitted to saying she was suicidal because she was mad at her boyfriend. The female, who was not from the area, was given a ride to her boyfriend’s residence until police could assist in returning her to her own residence.
After assisting Morden Police on an unrelated file, the Winkler Police advised that they located an intoxicated male walking down Thornhill Street. Morden Police attended and a 48-year-old male from Thompson was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. He was lodged in cells and released the next day without charges.
At 10:32 pm, police received a report of two males with flashlights looking around a construction site on Gilmour Street. When police arrived the two males fled from police. With the assistance of the Winkler Police Service K9 Unit, police searched the area but were unable to locate the males. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Morden Police Service at 204-822-4900.
At 11:20 pm, police received a call from an employee at a restaurant stating that he witnessed a male driving while intoxicated. When the driver left the parking lot of the restaurant, the employee observed the vehicle hit another vehicle and then drive away. After reviewing video surveillance, police were able to identify the driver who denied being at this location. Police are continuing to investigate this matter.
